Shame the photo was removed. Probably at the end of the war when 'skulls' were often mis-identifid as an 'SS-Soldier'

Unfortunately this piece is not in my collection anymore but I guess it can still be shared with this group and enjoyed.

    Cheers

    Scott

VERY nice Scott! Thanks for posting the scans. A shame the photo has been removed, regardless I'd still be happy to own it. It's unfortunate you no longer own this one, but perhaps it will re-surface one day

          Thanks for sharing, Floris!
Too bad there aren't any other documents with that Nahkampftage list, although it is a very interesting one!
I haven't seen alot of documents related to the 59. I.D.

                              Hello Gents

Here a new contribution for this thread. This soldbuch arrived yesterday. Thanks to the former owners

It belonged to Richard Warmbold (1912). He was an electrician from Northern-Germany on January 30 1942 he was enlisted in the army with Art Ers Abt (mot) 225, a training unit of the 225 Infantry Division, after his basic training he goes to Feld Ers Btl 110 and to the eastern front near Rshew with the 8th company (MG) of IR252 (110ID).
He meets the criteria to be awarded the winter war medal and he thus gets it in August 42.
In May 42 he gets spotted fever and stays in hospital for this until July 21 1942.
In the fall of 42 he is transferred to the staff of Afrika Brigade 999, a penal unit, on February 1 43 he is promoted to Gefreiter and on November 1 43 to Obergefreiter, so we can presume he isnt one of the soldiers serving his sentence; in March 43 they were in Tunisia.
After their retreat from Africa, he is assigned to the staff of Kommando Sizilien, a unit of the 15th Pz Gren Div.

From September 11 1943 till October 1943 he is in hospital for kidney problems.

In January 1944 he is transferred to the staff of Pz Jg Abt 559 (sfl), were he gets a job as a technical specialist.
Because of his technical function he cant be assigned to ad hoc created units. In April 1944 his unit gets equipped with 1 Jagdpanther kompanie and 2 StuG kompanie and is renamed Schw Pz Jg Abt 559 (Panther). You can see Wetzler's signature on the bescheingung.
On July 20 1944, the day of the assassination attempt on A.Hitler, he is promoted to the rank of Handwerker and gets the Dienststellngsabzeichen for Handwerker. This is signed by Leutant Brox from the werkstatt kompanie.

His unit participates in some of the heaviest combat actions on the western front in September/October 44 in Belgium and Holland (Market Garden), in December 44 his unit is part of the Panzer Lehr Division.
In the battle of the bulge they belonged to Kampfgruppe Poschinger, a Kampfgruppe that fought in the battle for control over Bastogne.
Richard Warmbold wasn't a crewmember of one of the Jagdpanthers but maintaining and repairing them was also important. Jagdpanthers sure were modern and powerful tank destroyers but they also broke down a lot and mechanics were certainly needed to keep the operational.
On May 31 1945 he is discharged from the army and on April 3 1946 he is released from POW camp.

                              Best regards

                              Erwin
