Clive, I believe it is common knowledge that squirreldude produces his nuts rather than find them. And any dude can pick a name from a book or a RoH and claim provenance.
Regarding the beret, it is a standard issue beret. The dateletter R signifies that it was produced in 1947 or 1948.

See what you mean Luc, missed the date letter. With the money squirreldude has extorted from his "authentic" sales it is amazing he hasn't had a kick in the nuts!

Hey ya fellows, so that green beret, the beret is fine right? but the badge and cloth is bogus?

well that was my guess when I first spotted it, we need to make a dodgy ebay sellers list on the forum

            Green beret

            Hi Ric,
I think that the beret is a put together, remember this guy is a tailor,if you look at his Ebay rating etc you will see that he buys up berets, both military and civilian,he marries linings with dates, probably Tankers with the wool outers of post 45 berets and sticks on a copy badge that has been aged and hey presto, you have a "genuine " beret, stick it on Ebay and make a handsome profit. Not happy with Para and SAS,he now just happens across one of the rarest green berets you can imagine in pristine condition. The man is a scoundrel. The Commando badge is a joke.
            Regards,Ivan

              commando beret dated 1944

What do you think guys from this green beret that was sold today on Ebay.uk the item number was 350336173998 and was sold for 435 pounds. I think it was a converted beret i have tried to contact the seller but he was beating around the bush about the originality. Strange that people bid with so much confidence and that with only a few pics how were available.

The beret might be ok but the badge and patch are wrong, already mentioned above I think. There must be a lot of people out there who do not know what they are buying.

Chris, I agree with Ivan that this particular beret is a put together and I'm not even going to comment on the badge. The double stitch line that is shown on the leather sweatband is not found on Kangol made berets and it is a clear indication that the liner and crown come from different berets. It is 435 pounds wasted, but I'm sure George will think differently.

                    Luc,
I had the same thoughts when i saw the green beret but i was wondering how is the lucky bidder i hope none of us?? For such a patchy beret it's ok if you pay 40 pounds if you couldn't afford a real one but the price was inflated in the last two days. If you looked good you could saw enough bad signs but i was trying to interrogated the seller with the intent to look if the man was intentionally misleading the whole think or not? For me it was a unknown seller i had to laugh about his personal ebay portrait look at him with all his medals what a bloody bastard
Yes indeed George will think differently he has a good weekend now maybe he is working to create a new kind of........ ....put this man on the black list,
                    All the best Chris

The winning bidder returned that beret, it could be the same one we're looking at right now.

That's very interesting Luc,the winner of the SAS red beret also returned that one too. I cannot believe the man has the front to picture himself on his Ebay page and stand displaying a chest full of medals,he then sells rubbish and makes hundreds of pounds by deceiving honest if not gullible people. He is a disgrace.

I just want to give a heads up on this heereszeugamt seller. I won this LW-schlauchchal for 1.50 euro.. Really cheap. It took him a long time to answer my pm.. Then he sends me this:

                                "you won the Schlauchschal.
Unfortunately I found out, that the photos where wrong.
The photos show a Schlauchschal, that I do not possess anymore.
I can not send you the one on the photos.
So I would like to cancel this auction"

My guess is that he didn´t get the price he wanted.

Now he is sending me something else, most certainly a repro.
