Lee,
This is another beret, the one i mentioned had no leather band (look at the item nr.).
I had a bad experience with Schlossburger (Gary) a month ago he was offering a black beret dated 1942 as original but it was a converted specimen when it arrived. The leather band was re-stitched but he was "forgotten" in his advertisement to mentioned this. I have asked some questions about the green beret (your link) how has been sold yesterday for 363 pounds but he was beating around the bush. Mine simple question was to send some close-ups form the leather band no reaction so i have no believe in this seller. The good point is that he refund your money when you are not satisfied but anyway it cost me 10 euros postage so be aware,
Regards Chris

Odd liner on this fibre rim: here is the sellers explanation...
"The liner has not been replaced and the helmet is being offered as found, NO alterations have been made since it was found as can be seen in the pictures. As for the 1941 date, I have never seen one before either. Neither have I seen a headband before with the small markings that run the edge of the entire leather headband. Where there is normally a leather strip where the padding and the leather headband are attached to there is a thick strip of black material instead of the thick leather band. However, I know of no other helmet where this type of liner configuration might have been used in other than the airborne helmet."

I know of a liner, the Zuckerman helmets. That 41 dated liner made by BMB has been taken out of a Zuckerman & put in the fibre rim. Simple as that, Holland was supplied post war with these Zuckermans, so there are probably quite a few floating about. Thankfully, I think all the Zuckermans were dated 41, & all the fibre rims 42.

I have seen these types of liners in the Danish tankers helmets. The Danish used the webbing para helmets, drilled a hole in the top and put a rubber pad in like in the Mk2 helmets. The Danish modified helmets (all ww2 origin) had these 1941 dated liners made by BMB. I have no pictures of them only the memory.
I think this is a good helmet judging on my own feeling.

The dutch non military organisations after the war like the PTT (postal and telecom) BB (civil defence) used the pre war dutch helmets painted black and later the MK2 and Mk3 helmets from England.
I have never seen a Zuckerman helmet with dutch markings of both these organisations. I collect british helmets myself and all the zuckerman helmets I have seen are all from the UK bought by collectors.
