Hi all,
Yes I did buy the beret first time it was offered on eBay but the deal fell through, by no fault of my own.The seller is the hardest person to deal with on the planet (myself included!).
When I originally bought the helmet I asked several times if there were any other items. The seller answered about there being some photos which might be listed and also said that there was his beret, but this was not for sale, because it was still worn to reunions etc. I accepted this as it would be fair to do so. Anyway, no doubt the seller realised this stuff was worth £££ after selling the helmet sell so regardless of any regard for morality listed it on eBay. I then emailed the seller about the fact that I had bought the helmet and had previously expressed interest in buying the beret. No luck there really, so I made an offer (as high as my ebay bid) but this was not accepted.
Skip a few days and I had the top bid on ebay. In the exchange of emails in the days following the auction I again expressed an interest in keeping the items together and asked if there were any more bits to come. Anyway the seller kept stalling me and stalling me and wouldn't provide me with too much information so I thought to myself !@%" it!!! If the seller wasn't bothered about keeping his family's military history together then why should I bother? Sometimes trying to do the right thing can turn bad
Anyway it's a nice beret at the end of the day but some things are just not worth the hassle. It's quite clear the seller is only motivated by money and doesn't want to keep his father's bit and pieces together.
Jack.

But Luc how about the one where the buyer pays, the seller ships, the item "doesn't arrive", the seller gives refund of £150 out of good will, waits for the compensation but this doesn't come because "dutch postal service unable to provide records", seller is £150 down and badge is "missing"?
