Surprised Not to See Come and See!
I'm really surprised that Come and See isn't on the list of polling choices. I just watched it this evening, and I was so affected by it that I had to write a fresh review on it here in the media forum. I believe it clearly ranks up there high enough to deserve its very own named choice.
Sincerely,
Chris

Last night i saw a German movie called "The Devil Strikes at Night". The setting is in Germany in 1944 and is about a serial killer and a cop trying to catch him.
Not a war movie but nontheless i enjoyed it and the uniforms and medals that the actors are wearing look very good, maybe the real deal.
The movie was made in 1958 and is in black and white. The language is German with english subtitles. DVD

Sounds somewhat like "Knight of the Generals" staring Peter O'Toole,
which was done later - maybe a Hollywood remake of your film?

Is that where a general becomes a serial killer? I saw that one in the video store i will rent it next time. In the movie i saw the killer was a worker. On the jacket of the dvd it said that the killer in the movie was based on a actual killer in the TR.

Some of the oldies , I mean the real oldies.
"The Cruel Sea" , "Ice Cold in Alex" , "The Long ,the Short and the Tall" are all very good.
Saw "The Night of the Generals" a few months ago quite good. O'Toole plays a ruthless , verging on the psychotic serial killer and does it very well.
His driver is played by Tom Courtenay and the insightful military policeman played by Omar Scharif are also make it very worthwhile.

" I KILLED TWENTY NAZI GERMANS!!!"
Anybody remember 'Hornets' Nest' with the little Italian kids? The SS shot all their parents, so they got some payback and blew up the dam. There was some great action sequences in that one. Of course now that we know Rock Hudson was a nob-gobbler, it does kind of ruin things. . .

"Air Force"
"Air Force" is the one for me! A 1943 Howard Hawks movie about the crew of an Air Force bomber arrives in Pearl Harbor in the aftermath of the Japanese attack and is sent on to Manila to help with the defense of the Philippines. I'm sure you have seen it. Great on many levels.
