    "To Hell and Back"
My choice, no one could have played Murphy as Murphy did.
It was hard for him to relive the actual war even on screen.
    Just my choice!

How about "Winter war", "Ambush" or some Eastern block films like "Battle or river Neretva" and "Sutjeska".

        Enjoy :-)

Not really a war film I guess, but anytime you get a room full of Nazis together to discuss "policy" it might as well qualify.

Superb film though, one that will definately leave a lasting impression.
Just got myself this movie last week and it is indeed a great movie. Not a lot of "action" but interesting and entertaining nonetheless.

Have there ever been any movies abut Verdun or Gallipoli? Cheers, Torsten.

                    Battle of the Bulge

I grew up watching that movie
It covered many aspects of the battle and the war.
Historically fairly accurate even with the personallities pertrayed
Hessler the fanaticle german panzer commander who thought he could lead his country to victory .
Konrad the soldier who was tired of the war and saw the demise of his country.
The american actors and there attitude were pertrayed very well .
The americans thought the war was over and that germany was done in December 44.
                    Historically
I thought it was important to show The Malmady Masacare
that was executed by the L.A.H and the brief mention of the incircled town of Bastogne.NUTS
Over all an excellent movie Two thumbs up from me
                    BASTOGNE.....

I would have to disagree with that recommendation, that film is so skewed and slanted that if you are looking for an account of the battle you should ignore it entirely and invest in one of the numerous books on this disastrous campaign.

Sadly, this film is most peoples initial exposure to this part of WW1 and its version of history has become fact.

Like most of the 'historical' fare of Gibson, just avoid it.
