appreciate people take pride in their repro tunics. thats great. but i say this, that when i see this one, for example. there doesnt seem to be chest darts here-a common janke trait. imo one huge negative point. another slight negative point, ie slight being massive, is the cut at the shoulders here, the same perhaps as a sports jacket. janke captures the flavour but not the actuality of a real wehrmacht tunic. rather a lot of money to spend on something that falls short on major elements that make up the classic german combat tunic. lost battalions too in my opinion, used the wrong wool and cut their tunics too high. as has been said before. so in reality, the holy grail of repro tunics cant be found at lost battalions, or janke's door in my opinion. america and europe are NOT the places where the best repro tunics are currently being made, whatever either place would like to think. of course i would like to see some texled actually bought tunics on this thread, to have a closer look at this now virtually extinct run.

              Steiner,

You are correct in your observations and yes Janke does have shortcomings as did Lost Battalion. Beauty in that sense is in the eye of the beholder. I would take Janke over LB anyday but I am a tall so the LB stuff is way too short on me. The texled stuff was the best stuff to ever hit the market. I posted both my M40 and M41 texeled ATF feldbluse but for some reason the pictures came out really blurry.

Thanks. Please could you rephotograph your texleds and post them? Forget the blurry pics and take some more. If you have time. Id like to get a good look at them, if possible. ;^) what do you think of chinese tunics, which firm currently make the best wehrmacht tunics in your opinion?

I certainly will take and post better pics give me a few days. New baby in the house keeps me busy.

In regards to the current Asian market I would have to say Strum in probably the best thing going currently followed by Gavin militaria the rest are just pure crap. Lost Battalions is under new ownership and in the process of gearing up to release a new batch of uniforms and Janke is still going strong.

thanks again and best of luck with the baby!
i like the sound of lost battalions gearing up again...
only---hope and prey they use better uniform patterns and extend their tunics lengthwise...their detailing was superb, but no one seem to take account of the measurements in a vertical direction-so all their jackets were cut too short.
another thing-the material was 'twill' ive see it and it aint like the wool i prefer.
look forward to the pics...must check sturm out.
                    best regards

The Asian stuff has really flooded the market and killed it for the high end stuff. Most people have no idea of how a feldbluse should fit, how it is made and have probably never owned or held an original. With that being said the Asian crap is perfectly fine and acceptable to them and it's cheap. I certainly cannot speak for Rollin or Virginia but I feel safe in saying the Asian stuff hurt them big time, Sturm has got pretty good for the money and reenactors are fickle and most fit the first paragraph with all that said I think that is what ended the "texled" line of feldbluse and hosen. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did frankly. It was a hard sell in these tough economic times. A custom M40 for $695 or the same Strum M40 for $99.99? I would not be caught dead in a Sturm but that's me. I am glad i got my feldbluse and hosen!!

I don't know what Virginia will do. I certainly hope she does not throw in the hat but I would be surprised if she calls it a day due to the info above. Rollin stated that he MAY make high end feldbluse in stock sizes but no more custom stuff. Janke is the only person to continue and survive the custom order market. New Columbia folded years ago over custom orders among other things.
I am sure that if ATF had been making money on the Texled uniform line it would have continued. I am surprised it lasted as long as it did. I would guess that ATF can find better ways to invest their money than trying to cater to what must be an incredibly small segment of what is already a specialty niche market.

I remember when ATF began to hint at making USA-made German wool uniforms. At first it was stated that these uniforms would be kept in stock and would be around the price of Lost Battallions or the older runs of USA-made ATF uniforms. I was later shocked by the price at which these were offered. It seemed to me that the asking price for these custom-only uniforms was more than the market could bear for a reproduction item, particularly when the quality difference between these and alternatives that cost a tenth as much is almost imperceptible to the majority of even dedicated enthusiasts.

yes. a case of 'wake up and smell the ersatz coffee' perhaps.

thanks for going to the trouble...where are - were- these tunics made?
                              you call them texleds.
that means theyre 'at the front' made ones, right?
does that mean at the front made them, totally made them, in the us?

                                Steiner,

"Texled" was a term coined by ATF for the feldbluse that he (Rollin) made with Virginia (On The March) this past year. They were made using 100% German wool and made entirely in the USA by ATF/Virginia. "Texled" also refers to all of Rollin's high end reproduction stuff such as his new high end field gear etc. FYI

They were expensive but they were truly the BEST reproduction feldbluse ever made and I thankfully got these two and a pair of M37 hosen made before they were discontinued.
