    Pilot Badge

Yes, it is quite large and heavy. I would assume for display on the plaque or some other use. Beautiful piece.

Strangely, I had it for sale on the Forum a few months ago without a single bite. Now I am glad nobody bought it, as it makes a great display piece.

I bought it in Germany back in the early 1990's.

Here are some images. OK, guys -- who is the maker ?

          Mike,

Was this on a display board in your eyes or where did it come from? I remember the sale and because it was an award it did not sell.

There isn't anything like it that is textbook as I've never seen another.

            One of a kind ...

These are unusual, almost "one-of-a-kind" items for which there is no textbook. But one of the reasons I like it. It is too large for a display board but was most likely used on some sort of plaque.

Very interesting, Mike's has fine detail. I believe these were for gravestones, as the one I purchased was allegedly from a German stone mason's old stock, that could also explain the black color. I've also seen one in a Fighter Clasp format, same large scale. Looks like there was more than one maker of these.

                                Tony and Sven,
