No, not that I know, but I just found this on the web. Explains a lot

        over high end fakes.

Anyway, Craig's tunic is proof there's still good stuff out there well
worth the money. One just has to know his stuff and do his homework.
Only spending money does not do it at all.
        From the Ritterkreuz site:

        The cassette as presented today:

        The original Hoffman pics:

        Apples and oranges. Scary.

And not to stray too far from the thread at hand:

        Fantastic tunic Craig!

            For The Record...

Yes, Craig, the tunic was priced higher than $55K when it was presented for sale @ Steve Wolfe & Neil Hardin's MAX show table. ($75K was the asking price, if my memory serves me correctly)

However, $55K was the price @ which it was offered to me by the Chicago-area collector that purchased it from the MGM auction in late 1994. Steve & Neil purchased it from him about a year after that picture was taken.

It just goes to show: the early bird doesn't always get the worm - especially when it's a really expensive worm!

It was priced at far more than that when I first saw it in the W&H room. You may have been an "insider" then with better pricing than me But no matter, that was a decade ago.

So with inflation adjustment etc... the tunic was < $100k >$150k ?

Just a stab in the dark....

Can anybody help me with the likely medals Ribbentrop would have worn, and in what configuration? I know GPB, Iron Cross, and Wound Badge.

I am not sure of the individual medals, although this thread shows his medal bar and may be of some help.

It's the left and the right medals I don't know - they are probably foreign.

The heart break!!!!!! It will now go into the catogory of "restored". Well hell, I thought it had all the original insignia and stuff. But seriously, with a piece this important, its certiainly a good and right thing to do.

                            Regards,
                            Joel

All of them are German. Oldenburg Friedrich August Kreuz and Sachsen-Weimar-Eisennach White Falcon order.

Restored? This tunic is not restored - it just needs original medals hanging from the loops! Thank you for the suggestion - I will try to hunt these orders down.
