Darre was also probably involved in the Lebensborn getting started.
Darre had been involved in animal husbandry and could have extrapolated such techniques to good human breeding.

and the plaque has also been shown in hundreds if not thousands of underground occult journals and pagan journals. Many of these groups took note of the plaque years ago when it was featured in Mr. Lumsden's books.
Some , like the web site you point out is a bit free with historical fact and modern myth. Or as historians have coined it, "the Nazi-Occult Mythos."
However, some of these groups have a extremely studied and serious presentation of the plaque and what it represents in regards to Wewelsburg and Himmler's attempts at the SS religion.

Himmler was one as well - that´s why the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus (village community house, today the restaurant Otten´s Hof) had once a big nest for storks to help them breeding on it´s roof!

Himmler gave out an official order on the 21st of September in 1937 to his Hauptamt-Chefs:

"Ich bitte dafür zu sorgen, dass auf allen Grundstücken, die der SS und Polizei gehören - Unterkünfte, Konzentrationslager und sonstige Grundstücke wie z. B. Wewelsburg, Externsteine, Sachsenhain usw. - überall an den Bäumen und Sträuchern zahllose Nistgelegenheiten für Singvögel angebracht werden und dass weiterhin dafür gesorgt wird, dass die Vögel ungestört von Katzen und Menschen hier unterkommen können.

Ich wünsche, dass die SS und Polizei auch auf diesem Gebiet in der Liebe zur Natur ein Beispiel gibt. Die Ländereien der SS und Polizei müssen im Verlaufe weniger Jahre zu Tier- und Naturparadiesen werden.

Though the content has been explained, I thought I would offer a very hurried translation (apologies for any errors, I wanted to impart the meaning more than the exact wording) for those who do not comprehend German very well, as Himmler's statement makes for fascinating reading.

" I request that on all properties which belong to the SS and the police - barracks, concentration camps, and other properties, for example; Wewelsburg, Externsteine, Sachsenhain, and so forth - provisions should be made in all the trees and bushes for the nesting of songbirds, and that it is further insured that the birds can have find accommodations unimpaired by cats and humans.

I wish for the SS and the Police to set an example for the love of nature. The properties of the the SS and the Police must eventually become a natural paradise for animals.

The stork is a symbol of good fortune and fertility in European folklore. Interestingly the SS newspaper carried an article in the December 1935 issue about the nesting of storks at Dachau that ties in rather nicely with the Himmler directive posted earlier.
