    Matthew,
In your research of this badge, do you know of any women who were awarded the GTB?

      .

Few- Emmy Goering would be one.

      cheers

That's right, Matthew, though Emmy Göring was apparently not a member of the NSDAP.

As offered in the last HH Auction- both positive and negative dies for Gau Thuringen Ehrenzeichen. Admittedly I have not got a chance to examine the pieces in person but if real the cast knockoffs is the least of our worries. Good thing they're numbered...

              cheers
              Matt

PS. Anyone got a chance to examine those dies up close?

Now those could be scary in the not to distant future but there will many traits difficult to replicate.

if those are the real deal then...

I can see the documented examples already in collections growing in price exponentially as anything new that will surface will have that shadow of doubt hanging over it.

Dunno Erich. Everything else is relatively easy to replicate. I sure am glad to have one in my collection already.

You maybe right Matt and I'm also glad to have one as well.

Makes no sense whatsoever. Yours could have been made with these very tools.

As always, provenance is what counts.

The dies seem to exhibit some rusting which means they would transfer a less than perfect image. Even if the rust is removed by polishing, it would alter the finished example enough as to create a distinctive difference between them and those originally produced.

Do you see number punches included with the sale?

And if they came from someone using them to produce copies (or technically originals from different time frame) do you think that person would just give them up ? Maybe got tired of making upwards of 1.5K a pop?
That is what makes no sense whatsoever. After all- do you see K&Q dies floating around for sale?

BTW- if they are the original dies I sure hope my badge WAS struck using them.

These days provenance counts for little as few recent threads have shown us
