It did. I recently commissioned a research company from Germany to find a copy and will offer to match the numbers with names to anyone proving ownership of said badge when found. I was toying with the idea of publishing the whole list if found but as a good friend pointed out- it would not take long before we would see badges with numbers pointing to known personalities once such a list was to surface. As it stands we already have 'gold' versions and silver grade bronze versions to deal with. I am rather surprised that 'with diamonds' version did not surface yet.
    cheers

Andreas also has a copy of the list and he was able to identify mine for me.

Excellent resources!! Many thanks to Matt and also to Andreas!

While I certainly understand the reasoning Matt presents for not publishing the entire list of numbers and corresponding names of Thüringen Silver Adler awards, we know that there are a number of lists of GPB awardings that have been in existence for many years...I constantly work on my own version. But it has never been the case IMO that a GPB has been diagnosed as "fake" or "phony" based solely on the known recipient of the original NSDAP number. In that case, the fakers would surely make their badges bearing #1 or #6 (Schwarz) or almost any other number up to 100 in order to hit many of the Alte Kämpfern! But in fact, it is the quality and the character of the badge itself that always gives it away, not the number on its reverse.

        Just some thoughts, among friends,

        Br. James

          'among friends'

I am talking about altering an authentic specimen to enhance its value by changing the number to someone more famous not putting a famous recipient's number on a fake badge. GPB and BO collectors with a few miles on their clocks will know what I am talking about.
Then again- maybe I will make the whole thing public if I stumble upon it. For now I don't have that problem.
Still waiting for my badge before someone asks...
          cheers

            Matt,

The measurements of my badge are just about spot on with Stan's badge.

No problem Matt, just had to go out and buy a scale. Looking forward to seeing your new badge when it comes in!

Thanks for your good clarification, Matt. And even MORE thanks for your kind compliment -- with more than 50 years collecting, researching and studying in this hobby under my belt (or hanging over it), a generous compliment like yours doesn't come by very often...and certainly not enough!!

                    Cheers, my friend,

It is no secret that GPBs have been altered to give them new numbers. I have seen examples of those with milled reverses and those with filled numbers so they could be reengraved with numbers of famous recipients. I also examined a Blood Order that had the numbers filled and was renumbered. That was a failure only because the fonts were wrong on the new number.

                        Bob,

You're correct regarding the fonts used on the 1st pattern BOs which are unique to the 1st striking of the medal only. When new numbers are applied it's not hard seeing the differences if you are familiar with originals.

The restruck Blood Order was for a famous recipient. However, the original, of that number, was in a collection in Europe. I wonder what was ever done with the renumbered piece. It was not hard to see it had been altered by the depth and font of the punches used.

                                finally

Finally here. Apparently Canada Customs liked it as much as I do and wanted to keep it for a while.
Anyways. It's finally here and I am very happy with it. Everything that I expected to be there is there and everything that I didn't want is not so happy camper!
Measurements as photographed. Still waiting for my 'drug dealer' scale but I can already say that it appears to be in sync with the one lookers from Stan and Erich.
