Here's a trio of graves, two having helmets on them. What was done with the helmets after the photos were taken? Were they sent back to the supply depot or left with the graves?

Here's the first of two photos. It appears to show a soldier paying his final respects to a relative, perhaps a brother who died in service. The fallen comrade appears to be well loved judging by the crowd.

Here's a photo of comrades giving a final salute to a fallen comrade. There's writing on the reverse. Could someone translate it please? I can make out the date, 5/24/1940, and that it's in France. What's the rest say?
