There are only two listed in the Volksbund database with the name of Theodor Jacobsen - one died n 1918, and the other was a pioneer who died 11th April 1945.

      Hi Huck,

Well it wasn't the one who died in 1918, and I don't think it's the other guy either. It looks like he was with 1/AR 20. Wouldn't AR stand for Artillery Regiment?

Yes it does. The one killed in 1945 is buried in Denmark (from what I can remember) which is not where Artillery Rgt 20 served.

          Another AR 20 Soldier

Here's another member of AR20. Can someone tell me the history of this unit or look up this soldier?

Hi thanks for looking him up. What does Todes-/Vermisstenort: B. Wyborg

mean? Thanks for looking up AR20 for me. Can't read German, but I guess I can go to one of those online translation sites. This is the second AR20 grave photo I have.

Hi Todd thanks for the help. Any idea where Wyborg is or was? Would it be in the Ukraine?

If not mistaken, it was Finnish city, but is now a Russian city in Karelia after Finland lost this terrritory after the war.

                      Hi Todd,

Thanks for the information. That's interesting. So they would have been part of Army Group North then?

Yes. The parent division of AR 20 (20 Inf Div (mot)) was originally part of Army Group Center but at some point after the end of June it was assigned to the 18 & then 16 Armee of AG North in the region of Wolchow where it remained until being reassigned to AG Center in November 1942.

                            Hi Gerdan, Huck,

Thanks for the very helpful information. So Franz died trying to capture Leningrad it would seem.
