    Hello !

According to Schmitz-Thies, a similar symbol was used by Heeres-Küstenart.Abt. 910 (1942/43 near Leningrad).
That is possibly the source for the wrong identification on the photo. As you mentioned, this unit was equipped differently,
    with French 155mm guns.

In principle I agree with s.pak/Patrick that independent H.-Artillerie units equipped with Hummel are very rare.
But I think there were a few, for example H.Art.Abt. 101, from which I have a Soldbuch :
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...3&postcount=12

    Regarding the tactical sign :
It refers to the local history of Hamburg and "Hummel Hummel Mors Mors" seems to be a famous saying still today.
    https://city-souvenir-shop.de/online...81&language=de

So it could be a Arty unit from WK X (but I don't think so).
It could be that the crew has relations to Hamburg.
Or it could be simply a playing with words, as Patrick suggested ...
And if it is from a Panzerdivision, it will probably become difficult.

    Best regards,

    Archi

Archi, what is your source for 101 having Hummel ? I found it surprising that you said tthe three batteries each had only 4 vehicles, it was normal for a Wespe/Hummel Batterie to have six. Lexikon der Wehrmacht has 101 being destroyed in Stalingrad and then reformed in 1943 but it doesn't say where, before being renamed Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilung 101 at the end of August 1944.

        Hello !

The information is from the book by Uwe Kleinert : Die Organisationsgeschchte der
        deutschen Heeresartillerie im II. WK.
(A very detailed work on all those indepedent artillery units).

The unit was split at Stalingrad and 185 men remained inside the cauldron.
The rest fought under Armees-Abt. Holldit, were it was also refitted in March/April 43.
(The first Hummeln arrived only by January 1944).

Why the unit was by Febr. 44 organized in 3 battries with 4 Hummeln each, I do not know.
But from a strength report of 4. Pz.Armee, dated 16.02.44, the unit had a
Soll of 14 Hummeln and a Ist of 17, so the equipment had arrived by then.

BTW, the old Panzerkeil site listed ~5 independent units equipped with Hummeln, but many
        also with a questionmark.

        Best regards,

        Archi

Thank you Patrick, Alan and Archi.

II./63 also had Hummel. I don't have any photos from the unit so identifiable though.

This slide is from a Hungarian doctor - but I see the Hummel is from a german unit.

After some further research i think the " Kleberblatt " sign might belong to a ground unit connected to Zerstörergeschwader 26 / zg. 26.

                            Hello Karl,

                            Thanks for your input.
To my knowledge the 19. Flak Division has not been on the Russian front??
So i have my doubt that this could be FlaK regiment 43.

The closest that I can get with that one is 95 ID which had a shield with three diamonds inside it.
