    I think the unit pin on his cap is the jumping stag of the 46th Infantry Division IMHO.

      This portrait could be that of a early war Jäger. The Jäger Oakleaf didn't get introduced until October 1942. The Jägers wore the same uniform and Bergmütze as the Gebirgsjägers.

      Here is a recent pickup of a Gebirgsjaeger portrait. Notice he does not have an edelweiss on his bergmuetze but he definitely is one.

        Thanks for the info and input that you provided. Do you have image or drawing of what the jumping stag unit pin looks like.
