The wearing of the jackboot is more common while on leave or in garrison. However there is plenty of photographic evidence they wore their jump smocks and boots while on home leave. FJ smocks, jump and ankle boots were more suitable for wear in combat but there is also photographic evidence that jackboots were also worn in combat..sometimes it was a matter of supply and demand especially in the latter stages of the war when the FJ were used mainly in a ground role and you see a mixture of items, normal steel helmets, LW Ground Combat Jackets, Jackboots.
