    Jan13 - Portrait - 7

The wearing of the jackboot is more common while on leave or in garrison. However there is plenty of photographic evidence they wore their jump smocks and boots while on home leave. FJ smocks, jump and ankle boots were more suitable for wear in combat but there is also photographic evidence that jackboots were also worn in combat..sometimes it was a matter of supply and demand especially in the latter stages of the war when the FJ were used mainly in a ground role and you see a mixture of items, normal steel helmets, LW Ground Combat Jackets, Jackboots.

Feb13 - FJ or HG? Wearing a jump smock but the cap appears to be black which is normally worn by Panzertruppen.

Exactly!!! It was not a fun place to be especially in the Winter fighting.

Pic 2665 - on the right side, could this be Obstlt Herbert von Gratzy? (killed in a parachute accident at Fallschirmschule 2 Braunschweig in 1940)? Any idea who is the officer on the left?
