Eric,
Wow!! I think I popped another blood vessel somewhere!! Fantastic photo!! Eric I got that feeling about 2,000 views back!! I'm hoping that some of the guys with plenty of FJ photos start joining in and posting some of their great photos. You know who they are much more than I. Do you think we should keep going...maybe break the total viewing record of the top Bad FJ helmet forum then start something else. I like your suggestion on Ugliest Wife/Girlfriend thread but I would probably get sick (ralph in his buick time) of that one fairly fast!!
Here's a photo of a FJ group waiting to load up for a jump!

Hey Guys,
Great photos, I have just realised how far I have to go, even to be close to you too, but from little acorns......
As for the wedding ones, I would have gone to Japan and joined the divined wind lads just to make sure .
The second one I thought was his mother, I looked again and it looks as if she is either pregers or fat belly. I kept loking for the father with a shot gun but couldn't see any.
Here's another nice one from YannisAttached FilesRegards

Giday everyone,
I thought that the purpose of this forum was to discuss various matters relating to the Fallschirmjäger, including their history and items of militaria specific to them. Further, I thought that others who frequented this forum shared my admiration for the Fallschirmjäger and cared about honouring their memory.
This thread has unearthed many outstanding photographs and, like many other members of the public, I have enjoyed looking at them. Thank you Eric, Bill and Simon.
However, I think that it is rather sad that serious collectors, and seemingly mature men, can and have continued to make denegrating comments on a public forum about several women who they don't find attractive.
The edges of the photograph that is the subject of post No. 210 are battered and torn. They suggest that the photograph most likely was a treasured item that someone, possibly the Fallschirmjäger pictured, carried on their person and handled often. Most likely the owner of the photograph both loved and admired the woman others on this forum have so rudely critisized.
This is not some private little boys club. This is a public forum visited not only by collectors, but by many others, including many Fallschirmjäger veterans and their families. How do you think they feel when they read such rubbish? Why should they take us seriously when some of you find it so difficult to show respect for members of their family.
Wake up guys! The derogatory comments are neither welcome or appreciated!!!
Ian

I was thinking much the same thing when I finally read your post.
The girlfriends & wives waiting for loved ones to return home(and all too often did'nt)has always given me pause when looking at old photos of soldiers and their important ones(irrespective of physical attributes.)

Ian, you are more than welcome to your opinon. I don't agree, but that's the way it goes. I think we were just poking a little fun, as I know these guys did to each other as well. Nothing was meant by it.
With that, I have had it with posting photos for a while. This bullsh1t isn't worth it.

Gentlemen on the contry, please find the photo below, the firery old woman on the left is my Vicotrian born Welsh Grandmother.
The chap in the middle is my paternal Grandfather, who fought during WWI where he was gased and taken as a POW, then set about going to Russia with the BEF before been turned home.
The woman on the right is my Auntie, who at a young age suffered from polio. Despite her disability, she married a GI from the 101. He went from DDay +2 all the way to Berlin fighting in a couple of minor scuffs along the way - some place named Bastonge and did a couple of para drops. She went to the US in 1946 settled in KS and held down a successful professional job and raised three children.
Please feel free to make what comments you want.
I for one who having served in the military and mental nursing have developed a humour which many friends{some of whom died serving their country}, associates, work mates etc share, always joking including girlfirends, wifes etc. Its a culture thing and nothing detrimental. I for one will not tolerate sexual or racial discrimination in the work place etc.
At times one should also look at the culture of where one lives, and notice the faults within their own social struture as well.Attached FilesLast edited by Si1964; 05-07-2004, 02:23 PM.Regards

Thanks Simon for your point of view. But if you need to make fun at the expense of others maybe the Association forum is the place.Because some people might get offended at the joke, who are just veiwing the forum to see whats it all about and that could be a negitive for us all.I had a friend ( son of a German Vet) over last night and was showing him the forum and he was not impressed at what he saw on that thread thats all.
As for Eric my nickname is Jack so I use it, but my Email all ways has my full name so people know who they are talking to.Any way we all know what your like so no offence taken. As far as the bull is concerned you have to learn that other people do have other views on things and may take offence at things you say or do so if you want to take your bat and ball and go home thats ok to.
Cheers Jack (Rob)

You know I am amazed that suddenly Eric and I find ourselves being considered and accused of being the bad guys because we have chosen to make a few superficial and humoured comments on a two photos (You don't think soldiers did that amongst themselves..think again). Little do you know us. I wonder how you can be so judgemental about Eric and I. We have willingly shared our photos and information and knowledge with all forum members who were interested in looking. Yes, you have the right to say what you like and America is based on the right of Freedom of speech. I spent a career in the Military in order to protect those rights (and not just for Americans) as well as my father before me. So you have not earned the right to insinuate that I don't know what it's like to be taken away from family and love ones. Yes JVC I know you too have served and I find it very hard to believe that you would think of me in such light. I have the highest respect for those who have served their country in Peace and War and their families who have suffered as a result. My Grandfather was a German soldier in WW1 and came from East Prussia and my Father served in Europe as an American Infantryman in WW2. I have spent many years of researching and collecting Fallschirmjaeger items and I'm sure Eric has done so as well (as you are well aware of his recent book). Your comments and opinions from the Podium have no foundation as far as I'm concerned and I will continue sharing my photos and knowledge with those who are interested in History as much as I.
