Yes it is. Looks like Yo-Di-Ru-E if it is right to left

Doesn't seem like a Japanese name, might be the name of a place. Could also be left to right "E-Ru-Di-Yo" which doesn't sound like a Japanese name either.

Could it be the writing is "E-ru-gi-yo"? With the "gi" written backward like the "yo" one. Maybe a javanese wrote this because there's javanese name "Herugiyo". I guess in the early of the japanese occupation in 1942, mr. herugiyo as one of the new soldier in the japanese para-military got this helmet. And later wrote his name in katakana? And since he's still new in japanese language and alphabet, he wrongly wrote the katakana?

And is there any japanese unit wore an orange colored helmet?

Yes, the Di ヂ may actually be Gi ギ, they can look similar when trying to scratch it in metal.

                Uniform tag

Is this a maker's tag or a name label (in the neck of an an IJN white tunic)?

                Thanks!

That's the name of the owner, which looks like Yasumoto to me.

Help with translating this Kanji would be greatly appreciated. They come from an IJA helmet which was marked in 3 different places but I believe they are all the same. Thanks in advance. -Jeremy

LetsGo82nd: It's either Nishiyama or Yamanishi .... depending on which direction

                              西山 Nishiyama

                              西 Yamanishi

Okay .... looking at post #57, it's (sideways) 西山 Nishiyama.
                              Cheers,
