      The Kangi means this kind of bird, ie crane. However, is a japanese name as well.

          Tsuru is also pronounced "KAKU".

          Tsuru (Crane) -- is also a surname
          鶴岡 Tsurugaoka (Crane Hill) a suburb
          鶴見Tsurumi (Crane View) another suburb
          鶴誠会 Kakuseikai (Loyal Crane Society) -- the dojo I belonged to

          There are at least two alternate surnames TSURU, but the kanji is different: (1) (2) 都留

                              The red seal is divided vertically in two: left side & right side.

                              The right side is "Takemura" 竹村 [bamboo village], a Japanese surname

                              The left side reads, "Han" and means "publish/version/edition." perhaps I'm reading that incorrectly!
