Was the sellar obstrutive?? How much did the sellar think he was going to get, I would have been pleased at this price,
    whatever is going on!!!!!

Hi Liam, second page in and read Jacks post 1069. Pretty much explains it all really.

Ha! Interesting that in one of the recently asked questions on that beret the seller states he is willing to accept a cheque. However, he wouldn't accept one from me

Caveat emptor or whatever I guess...

        withdrawn

Well well at £298 the item was withdrawn,so much for not selling privately and letting the auction run.One word springs to mind.....Mercenary!

The strangest thing happened, I went to place bid on the beret in the dyeing seconds of the auction and came up that the transaction was blocked???

Beret supposedly sold for 298 GBP's

I went in to check the bidders profiles and it came up that the auction no' on the beret did not exist??

Is he able to pull auction in the last moments?

You are spot on there Ivan. I think had he left auction be he might of been surprised what he might of got.

He might be back to take you up on your last offer now Jack.

Definately frustrating to follow this auction so long only to be a no show in the end. Some how Nige I dont think we have seen or heard the last of this beret.

                  mercenary

I think he wants an awful lot more than Jack's original bid that "won"the beret 1st tome around,he stated on one of the questions answered that he would let the auction run,by the time this gets sold it will have done more rounds than Ali.Who does he think he is,it's his Fathers beret,is he that desparate for cash.If it were my Father's it would not be sold at any price.
                  Regards,Grip
PS I tried with one minute remaining too,I think he would have got a good price for it but bottled it!!

Totally agree Ivan, and as you say how anyone can sell there fathers belongings/ beret especially with such historical provenance totally blows me away. ...Mercenary describes him very well.

                      Big Secret?

I wonder why he has kept his Father's name a secret? If he is so famous would it not be better to put the beret into a big name militaria auction house, with provenance together with the other items and make what could be big bucks from top end collectors or dealers, why dabble in Ebay.Take note he is very much an Ebay novice. His Father is also still with us,so why the hell is he flogging of his kit!!

                        Well there's a total surprise

Guys, what are you talking about? The beret sold and was not withdrawn. It is not possible to pull an auction that has bids in the last few minutes. I'm not sure why some of you were unable to place bids at the end (might have been an eBay freeze up) but I placed a bid in the last half hour without an issue (except not winning ). I corresponded with the seller and he seemed on the level. As for not naming his father in the auction I can understand that. You hardly want people looking you up in the phone book and calling you at all hours asking to buy your stuff.

Des that was my understanding to, but I can assure you many bids were prevented from been placed in the last minutes of auction. I know of 3 others who tried to place bids in those last moments not counting the guys that tried to do so here and were prevented from doing so my self included.

Are you saying the beret sold for 298 gbp . Because when I went into the auction at the end, it came up item auction no' no longer exists.???? never seen that before

I certainly wouldn't trust what this seller is saying

Just went into the expired listing now and it does infact say the listing sold for 298 GBP's I bet he wishs now he had accepted Jacks Cheque. And to think there were bidders trying to place more than 1k in the last minutes for this beret.

Could it be that as there were so many placing bids at the very end of auction that the auction malfunctioned some how? ...is that possible??
