He is supposedly selling his collection but from his prices I think he wants to keep it.

I agree Lee, I dont think he's in any hurry to sell those items, they have been listed for a long time now and from what I have seen nothing has sold. Crazy prices on the insignia and wings especially let alone the rest.

With that much gear and size of collection somebody from this forum I would think may know him and perhaps can comment on the Bd's. A number of BD's look promising to me from the pics but at those prices I haven't been brave enough to ask for extra pics.

A few forum members here do know him but will probably not comment. His prices are certainly not in touch with the market but as they are his items he can ask anything he wants. Fair play to him if he can get people to pay those kinds of prices although personally I think those buyers need their heads read

One thing Ive found is that new starters to the hobby are more than willing to pay over the odds for items. There is a guy in York who will pay anything for some of my items, even things I dont even consider bidding on if they appear on eBay. All it takes is people like that to lose interest and the price levels off. I can understand the great temptation of others to sell while there still are people like Mr York around to buy.

Here is an ebayer that has surprised me. This fellow is selling his grandfathers Australian WW2 Commando beret which his grandfather gave to him. It's a real shame when guys do this, selling family items.

No need to worry though. I actually sold this very beret to the seller last year, an original beret but it certainly never belonged to his grandfather.

                          http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...2BSI%26otn%3D4

Listed as a 40 patt BD that was 'particularly issued to SAS Glider & Para Units'
Except that it's a US War Aid pattern and the ones in the period pics he's added are 40patt as issued to everyone(one guy at the back wears the WA type).
I will soon be listing my 'Special Underpants particularly issued to SAS etc etc'

                                Hiya Lee,

I had a bash at that for its orginal parts value but needless to say didn't win! As a wartime BD with wartime applied insignia it doesn't feel right to me...worn BD with faded medal ribbon, newish looking insignia. The components don't seem to "gel" to the image of an "untouched" item.

What is interesting though is the use of the Aussie BD. My 7th BD is Aussie made!

A hands on needed I reckon...
