This is the Otto Ammon tunic today, mostly restored 6 months ago but finally completed this week after finding the right uniform removed EK2 ribbon.
The rest of the insignia were nicely used and faded examples found over preceeding years after a long search. All insignia has been sewn with original thread in as close to the original methods that I could do. The shoulderstraps are not correct for Otto Ammon as he was a Feldwebel in a PzGren Regiment. I will continue to look for a suitable pair to match.

I hope that you do enjoy and appreciate this restoration which is true to the tunic, not an embellished example with added skulls or award loops.

The markings in this sun faded tan tunic are still incredibly clear.

Finally the manufacturer, the Berlin firm of FR. Derwig & Sohn.

I do know that some will be critical of this restoration, but as I have said it is a restoration not an embellishment. I'm glad to have had the chance to restore this beautiful tunic and hope that many of you enjoy seeing it.

          Regards,

I agree with Mike - a nice restoration, Mark, carried out with a view to bring the tunic back to what it once would have looked like.
I also agree re: embellished tunics. They leave me cold and I won't have one in my collection.

                    Mark,

wow! You did an amazing job on the restoration, nice to see it restored and not upgraded. I know you would never do such a thing and the product of years of patients is very nice. Thank you for posting it. Matt

Supperb job Mark, taking the time and effort to find matching insignia's with the right ware and tone has really paid of.
You would swear that ribbon bar has been there for ever!

Thank you all for the kind words and I'm glad to know that this restoration is appreciated.
This tunic will be my next restoration bought specifically to display a set of shoulderstraps. I thought that the contrast of the extremely faded olive tunic and tan white piped shoulderstraps would look quite good.

Some of you might recognise this tunic as having been sold on German ebay a couple of months ago. I had bids in right from the start and hoped that it would prevail by the time I returned from a course. I thought that it was a splendid example of a well worn sun faded original and the price was quite reasonable.

Dated 1941 and also goes quite well with a faded set of PzGren straps.
I do look forward to the long search for the right insignia for this one and will show it again once compeleted. When that will happen? I do not know.

                            Take care

Great tunic, I prefer the Panzergren straps. Mark, after restoration you can sell it to me. Jacques

                                Mark,

im with Jacques, the pz gren seem to be a better match for this tunic. I wish I could find a loose one like this as I have the insignia to restore one. Matt
