Unfront,
sorry to say this but I really don't like those boots at all. I also have a few issues with both the artillery NCO boards and pioneer boards.
and...
Raymond, obviously all of the insignia on your tunic has been replaced. Nothing unusual but I would study some other examples and find correct insignia for a proper restoration. The eagle looks bad and has been sewn in the wrong spot. An original should have the bottom of the wreath sitting on the pocket flap.
I hate to say this but I wouldn't mind seeing some more pictures of the actual tunic. Although it looks okay there are just a few little things which also give me concerns. Interior shots, markings and some close ups of the overall tunic might help. The fact that the shoulderboards, which are obviously bad, appear to be made of the same material as the tunic makes me wonder when they were both made. I'm also having problems seeing a few obvious stitching lines on the tunic which would normally appear but can't be seen on this one.
Respectfully

Given that the boots came with a Luftwaffe set up and examining some of the sewing work, I believe that these were a set of tall boots that were cut down. The vet told me that the lace in one of the boots was broken so he had replaced both shortly after the war. I replaced the laces after I received them. I still have the laces that he put in there. I think they are US GI laces. At any rate, thanks for the great insight I guess?

but Unfront after reading your post and having a good look I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong as I had been comparing these to Heer boots, never entered my mind that they could be Luftwaffe (I have a very one track mind as I only collect Heer tropical items). After looking at a few examples I'm more inclined to look at them in a better light. I still don't like your boards unfortunately.
Thank you for your insight.
Chris, yours is definitely and 3rd pattern Heer and a very interesting example. When I first saw your post (without picture) I thought that you were saying Unfront's boot was a 3rd pattern. I had to quickly edit my post.

Mark: No worries.
For the longest time, I could not figure what the deal was with these boots. I have seen some odd things that are original but not normal. It took me a while to figure out what these were.
I will try to take some close up photos of the sewing around the top (if I can hold the camera steady enough for a clear shot).
