    Any DAK items

    Hello,

I really kinda wonder about these boots too. I believe that Heer and Luft ankle boots were made from the same basic design, but Luft supposedly used a light tan fabric. These appear to be an odd-green.

Further, the Luft tall and ankle length boots had 8 lace-holes per side. But the leather around this pair's instep and toe is quite unusual - (3rd pattern configuration). I believe that Heer counterparts had 6 lace holes on each side.

They appear to be a cross between a 1st pattern Luft and 3rd pattern Heer boots. If field reworked, then I would think the additional leather would look different than the original pieces. The pulls and instep looks identical to the rest of the leather.

Very odd indeed and I believe that Mark G. is quite correct. Just MVHO!

This pair is listed as a field modified Luft 1st pattern ankle boot (soldier applied extra piece of leather above toe to prolong boots' life.

Has 8 lace-holes and 1 piece of leather (lower).

Here's a pair of Luft 3rd pattern ankle boots.. Leather configuration is very different.

Mark, thanks for your reply. Here are a few more shots. I'm not sure which stitch lines you need to see. Let me know if you need more photos. I kew the eagle was reapplied and I didn't like the litzen. I figured it was a stripped tunic with reapplied insignia. The shoulderstraps are also strange. They are made from the same material except for the waffenfarb. the squared off ends are not what I would consider good.

Seam opened up. There seems to be alot of extra material.

Behind the collar. There is no stiffining stiches. Should there be?

The loops for the straps to slip into are missing. Someone just stiched the ends down. As you say with the straps being made from the same material isn't a good sign. It's strange to have the straps being made from the same material and the same construction methods but with different waffenfarb material.I just figured these were replaced on a stripped tunic. I had purchased this tunic about 11 years ago and was a much more trusting person then. i've learned alot since then, but there's always more to learn.
