Yes. The "K" tab is unquestionably original. This tab came back with the smock and all of the material in the group shown throughout this Thread by a U.S. Army soldier in the 90th Infantry Division.

He was at KZ Flossenburg and the Merkers Salt Mines. I bought all of this material from a 74 year old gentleman who was a friend of the now deceased soldier and I've been in constant communication with him. In our phone conversations he told me how he came to own the soldiers belongings and I have no reason to doubt him. If this group did not have the provenance that it does then I could understand skepticism about the tab as they are exceptionally rare and very few exist in photographs. I will add this - I have been getting blown-up with PMs by people, ironically none of which who have left a comment here, expressing an interest in buying it. My general MO is to not sell to people like that, but that's just me.

If this tab was sourced by some high-end dealer or one of our esteemed SS collectors everybody would be gushing over it and stroking him for always turning-up rare s.... Mr. small-time collector turns something like this up and it's got to be fake, even with rock-solid provenance. It's a joke and an all too common occurrence on WAF. Does it sound like I've got a case of the a..? Yes, I do because I do not want this tab to continue to be questioned and then group-think reigns among those here and the tab is now a turd. That happens here as well and you know it.

Anyway, I would recommend that it should be studied and appreciated for what it is - a 100% original vet bring-back example.

Once again to those who have commented - I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

P.S. I looked more closely at the hood last night and realized the finishing welt around the front is actually dot-pattern HBT. So this means whoever added the hood to this (either the U.S. or Waffen-SS soldier) had access to three different garments, or at least scraps of fabric from two (Oak "A" cotton-duck and dot HBT).

I guess this old guy went out and got a whole bunch of original SS stuff, an expensive original smock, and then just happened to find a repro "K" tab to throw in the group because repro "K" tabs are just around everywhere. To make it look convincing he stitched an original RZM tag on the back because these are just laying around too. And then, made up the story about Flossenburg because he had a few pictures from there and a map for the unit that liberated it.

Seriously - are you just f...ing with me? And what story don't you believe, his or mine?

Wehl was kind enough to forward this a minute ago. Unless he, or one of his pals dressed-up it looks to me like a period pic showing the exact style of tab. Notice how the "tails" are squared off like the tab I've shown.
