I believe it's the Fend tunic being referred to. What was the verdict on this one?

It can be yours for a mere $54,000.00 US.

I wonder why everybody keep saying that SS uniforms are rare ?

Not even SS wraps are rare its been made in thousands, rare its when only few pieces ever made, its expansive but not rare at all, anyone with money can buy bunch every year.

And about crook dealers you can talk about forever,NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE !!!!

This hobby turned in too big money making machine for some people and no one will ever stop this as long as there money involved it will go on and on,till the end of days.

PS one more thing everyone blame dealers for high prices,in most cases its not the dealer its the buyer that willing to pay such high prices are driving prices up.

Thanks! Then the price is representational of its worth.

The value of any item is what someone will pay for it. Asking price is just that: asking.

I disagree. Sure thousands were made but how many survived? Let's face it most SS people changed out of their uniforms and slipped into something more comfortable at the end of the war. Being picked up in a SS uniform could mean being shot immediately. Also whilst Wehrmacht POWs could keep their insignia, SS POWs uniforms were stripped of collor tabs and SS-eagles. Also keeping a SS-uniform in your closet just after the war was also not the smart thing to do. The SS was totally unacceptable post 1945 and SS-men were denounced after the war. If you wanted to have a life in post war Germany you better keep a bit of distance from your previous carreer in the SS. So keeping your uniform at home was not the thing to do. Furthermore many uniform items were reused after the war for regular clothing (due to the shortages in the forties). So your best bet of finding a genuine, untouched uniform that survived the period after the war is one that was picked up by a GI and transported to the US and kept safe for 60-70 years. So hell yeah it is rare.

GRare...maybe once they were but if people keep making them up they will not be rare or valuable.
I hope we can keep this from being a general dealer bashing thread but still discuss what has been happening with SS uniforms.

OK, other than the Fend tunic, where does one go to buy an authentic SS tunic? Most collectors are not selling so how do you get an original tunic?

                          That is exactly right Bob.

Made up tunics are not original tunics and therefore do not change the fact that original ones are extremely hard to come by even if you have the money. I know the wonderful collection of a vetran collector that has a few tunics listed in BeaverĀ“s books - but even with considerable cash on the table no sale.

Bob,i am sure you know that they out there, resigning in privet collections if something like this ever for sale in 99% cases it is sold privately, each peace have a line of buyers but it is really depends on the offer to cut that line, all depends on how much money one can offer.
