Only one of the posters I have has been linen backed. The rest I have preferred to leave as they are for the time being.
I have a poster I would like to be conserved, not restored as it were.

I am concerned that once it has anything attached to it that is not original to the poster, then it becomes not original?
May I ask why you have only one of your posters linen backed ?

    Cheers

It was already linen backed at the time of purchase.

I have spoken with other long time poster collectors about this numerous times and it generally comes down to condition and / or whether you are going to be handling them regularly.

Having my posters linen backed by someone I know is reputable and really good at what they do I would have to courier my posters to them in another state which I am not too eager to do.

I will most likely have a few done in the coming years prior to having them framed.

If you have a poster that is extremely brittle and or in pieces to begin with, then linen backing is the way to go!

        Nice pickup

I always have my posters linen backed except if the are double sided movie posters or have historical stamps or text on the back.

I've never seen it reduce the value of a poster in fact the opposite. A good restorer can neutralize the damaging acid in the paper and remove tape, restore missing pieces and other damage.

A couple of posters I have would be piles of dust by now if they had not had the acid removed and been linen backed.

          Sound advice.

Posters may be last longer on Linnen, but i have seen posters on Linnen which still went bad with condition, it's also a matter of storage conditions!

                    A recent non-poster pickup...

Max - what happened to your earlier photos in this thread? They were hosted on imageshack.....

I would not host anything on photobucket, imageshack, tinypick or flickr etc as those sites will all delete Third Reich images if someone complains.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wasn't aware any had been deleted...

Most images I have posted are still appearing for me.... Maybe it was just selective images I posted and could of accidentally deleted a while back without thinking
that I had linked them to the thread here.....bugger!

I still would not use any of those mainstream hosting sites. I had a big argument with those assholes at photobucket when they deleted my account without warning.

I've used postimage.org for about 7 years now with no problems.

I think most of the other sites have this policy......
