The classic Metal reply:
If you don't get it .......then you never will.
LOL
I never "got it" as far as Elvis, crew cuts, Country music inbred twang, or Frank Sinatra. To each their own, but does it always seem the overly conservative feel the need preach to or condemn those they consider unacceptable.........as if they somehow have all the right answers and opinions

I wasn't demanding any action against this Musical Hero of yours to stop wearing his TR stuff, he can do whatever he wants, what I've said is that IMO this artifacts shouldn't become a fashion accessory and collecting them should be done with more respect not just because they look "f*u*c*k*i*n Cool" for whatever reason. Rock Stars and other public figures acting in a stupid way attract even more negative comments and publicity to this hobby specially with such motivations given to the Press .
Plain and simple, now you can all go back head bangin' and playing air guitars
I wasn't attacking THE LIFESTYLE ... you all seem to be stuck in High School still
How many good helmets got ruined by bikers???

Wow, referring to Lemmy & Motorhead in the same breath as spandex and make-up? You must be the ultimate Rock & Roll Historian.....
I just hope to be half as active and as rocking as Lemmy is when I am in my 60's...."Militaria shows are a social event for anti-social people"--A.T. 2008

when i was a kid looking at my fathers ww2 mags i always thought that the german uniforms looked " ****ing cool"...its partly what attracted me to the whole third reich thing...and the truth be told any collector would boil it down and say the same thing...course they are f..ing cool...thats why people collect them etc...sontag is not wrong when she says that it is a form of porn....to the victors go the spoils of war...wear em..display em...buy and sell em...id be interested to know the feelings of collectors from germany....for it is their countrys history...im sure they have a diff take on it.....they dont have spoils of war...veteran take homes....motel /hotel conventions full of baseball capped antisocials maxing their visas for a a camo smock!....Lemmy is a product of the winners side...a child of "i fought the war for your sort"....and collects for his own reasons...he wears that gear cos its part of the whole scene he into....judas priest did it...punks took it on.....its just a big **** off to the establishment....cos they won the war but they won it so conservatively and boring and thats partly why german gear is so appealing imo

And whats real fun with Punk and Nazi symbols , there are almost as many different prints on a theme as there are different SS camouflage patterns .
In 1977 punks wore this print .....as much as to peve of ones parents as well as every one on the bus , chip shop and pub .
Its playing with a taboo ............
In todays day and age when things are so PC its hard to see something so radical making it to the main stream .
But there was a time when it was seen all over the UK for about 8 solid years .
this is one I have hanging in my house , a blast from the past , designed by a Jewish fashion designer.
enjoy .Attached Files

Personally i think if item is not related to a name than it is not much of a piece of history it is just nicely made item (of course if it is nice item) same as any other old pieces,i have antique silver spoons from beginning of last century i use them in my kitchen.
I dont see any problem if people use them to wear and enjoy them as nice old things.
It is same to me as when people use antique decorations like pins and all kinds of jewelry.
When it comes to a attributed pieces than its different story, again those things play very little role of knowing history actual events is what is most important.

It plays directly with the Third Reich most powerful symbol and brings it main stream .
Something that ..........
Tricky
Dex Pistols
Diplo
Cut Chemist......
Never done ....
not even Banksey has tackled the symbol .......and he is
A product of the D@B generation, and not much of a Crass type .

Bansky did do one thing that I was surprized to see;
the liberated KZ women with red lipstick....Heavy, that was.
Krieg 777, you seem to be a good/cool guy.......... But you gotta relax a little on the guys that like TR stuff as their fashion statement.
There are some good examples here relating to this. Also, guess what? Currently a "main stream" trend for women's clothing THIS YEAR is military style clothing basically using TR jacket patterns. Go have a look in the shops that sell mid-range clothing and you won't miss the "military look" for sale.
The military look is not new, but I have never seen it getting so close to the TR patterns.
I guess something is only O.K. when it goes mainstream?
I guess it'll be awhile though for the Swaz to be mainstream though!!! lol.
Cheers,
Jp
