Motorheads 1st lp circa 1977 featured the "War pig" logo on the front with a swastika on the middle spike. The following 4 studio lps "Bomber" "overkill" "Ace of spades" & "Iron fist" all had the swastika on the helmet design. "Iron Fist" even starts wiith Lemmy singing "sieg Heil" in the intro of the song. However, when the full Motorhead catalog was slated for american distribution back in the late 80s on profile recs, the swastika was airbrushed out. An old band I was in opened for Motorhead back in 1986 so I got to meet Lemmy in person. On his bass he had a 100% original Police helmet decal...also original pith helmet shields on his leather jacket. Sorry I had to put the lp on the scanner but you get the idea.........

      Lemmy

To those who get pi$$ed off with topics like this, Vanilla Ice says"chill". Sometimes topics seem to go a little off course from true collecting topics. But it'd be boring without such diversions. Only metalheads really care about the Lemmster, but many of us are curious about the collections of these guys. With all their money, it's be interesting to see if their stuff is actually real.

        I've always wondered that myself...

Lemmy's collection is undoubtably real. He has spent time, research and money and has been collecting in Europe since the 60's. People assume that he does not know what he's doing because he's a Rocker, but anyone else collecting that long would be trusted on this forum. Some of my musician friends have seen parts of his collection, and say it is huge and very well researched. In photos you will see him with fake stuff, only a chump wears a real SS officers cap to a metal concert. Another collector is the singer of Death in June. His last tour he wore a 44dot tunic and trousers, an SS helmet and a face veil, all 100% original!

I wonder if Lemmy has ever let anyone photograph any of his collection?

The Death in June stuff does appear to be original. Yikes

Douglas pearce the singer of Death in June has been collecting NSDAP and SS uniforms and weapons since the 70's. All his imagery in his albums and posters is photos of him and his band in original Third Reich gear. I wonder if he is a member of this forum?

I find the comments by lemmy a bit infantile, but I do like Motorhead.

it is not prohibited in Germany to have this stuff, it is prohibited to wear it in public.

Interesting note on Lemmy is he ran into Frank Heukemes in LA and has a copy of his book.

Some of Lemmy's comments are made with the typical teen-aged metalhead in mind, not the typical collector. The interviews come from crappy metal zines so he has to give his answers in a manner that will not bore the average reader so his responses come across as totally infantile because that's what tends to entertain the typical reader of those interviews, they would much rather hear Lemmy give an f**** 'em all answer rather than something with some actual substance. He is actually a very well spoken, well educated and I am sure if he was to be interviewed for some sort of collector's zine, or what have you, it would prove to be a much different interview.

Douglas Pearce, of Death in June, is the opposite. He will always give very well spoken, educated responses in his interviews. It is my understanding that a lot of his collection comes from a VERY close friend who is a vet of the WSS so it is no doubt that he has some amazing 100% original stuff. Not to mention Death in June is a great band

                    Just my 2 cents.
                    Kindest regards

I heard Lemmy bought a large and well known dagger collection some time aho. Who it belonged to escapes me.

                        Lemmy

I don't know what they sound like, but you can't say they don't have impeccable taste in clothing and headwear!!!

Interesting that before they became popular "S" in their logo was like swaz and then changed to simple "rune"
