Moral of this thread: People who collect legit "Nazi" items are apparently offended by people who wear Nazi items just as much (perhaps more so) then people who don't collect Nazi items.

And this hobby is seriously lacking of humor and fun, most seem to suffer from a terminal case of stickintheassitis.

Perhaps it's the vast age demographic.

I'm glad I come here for the history and hobby itself, not the people.

Dave, get serious for a moment. Re-read your comments below. Yes, disrimination against African Americans was widespeard before and during World War II, but were blacks in the US being taken to concentration camps? Were the Blacks in the US being exterminated by the milions? Was the nation's leader threatening their wholesale murder? Was it proclaimed US policy to exterminate them? Why, Dave, did Afirican Americans very wholeheartedly serve in their nation's armed forces and war effort when war came? Why Dave, did so may make it crystal clear, at that time and afterward, that while their nation did not always live up to its promise, they had no desire to see a Nazi victory. Ya think it might have been because, in America, African Americans had a Constitution and a Bill or Rights to base their struggle on. What, exactly, would they have had under the Nazi's?

Dave, we are all entitled to our own opinions. We are not entitled to our own facts.

No, the Americans of African descent were not mass murdered. I doubt the US could get away with this type of behavior after mass murdering the Native Americans and working very hard on the successful final sulution to the natives. The Americans of African descent were summarily treated as inferior and discriminated against by US whites, and the US Government did little to ensure the fair and equal treatment, much less the safety of life and limb, until the 1960s; 100 years after emancipation from slavery.

Still, I am shocked at those who wear Nazi regalia. I find it hurtful to those who suffered under their reign and tasteless to those who are branded as Nazis because they collect it. However, in a free society, one is free to be an a$$hole.

And the reasonable person will view these types in the correct way; I just hope they by their items from select dealers and choose to wear reproductions!

Historians, laymen, current generations evaluate the actions of those who came before them... at any rate how will future generations evaluate US military activities post WW2 overseas? Will they be viewed favorably or not based on your political affiliation? It has been argued that the land of the native Americans was stolen from them, as follows somehow compensation for this in the form of tribal owned casinos manifest through economic warfare is somehow just revenge or "payback"...but by what right did the natives have claim to this land--because they were here first? Who was here before them, other natives that they won it from in warfare? As for being a slave or Holocaust victim, I think arguing the favorability of one vs the other depends on your background, some black Americans refer to the years of slavery in this country as the "Black Holocaust" and this label is not viewed with favor by some.

                    Nazi Regalia

IMO, if most collectors felt they could be completely honest, I think they would admit that it doesn't bother them at all that some "characters" (we'll call them) wear Nazi regalia. But at the same time, they probably question why someone would call attention to themselves in a political climate wherin they have no chance of succeeding. Joining the SA would be a no-brainer for German veterans out of work after WWI , but forming a Stosstrupp in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles today, could be problematic . HERE'S THE FALSE ASSUMPTION: "If you identify in any way with a particular Nazi organization, then you automatically support the holocaust." This is not just sheer PC nonsense, of course, but also an intellectually dishonest argument, to which most of you collectors will readily attest. But why would I collect SA collar tabs if I didn't identify in some way with the SA? Because the SA were scared of the commies and were forced to buy them drinks, and had dopey uniforms? NO - it's because they were in the beer hall to do more than drink, kicked the commies a$$es, AND had cool uniforms!!! So let's be honest here. But to show y'all I'm not a hater.......seriously, I DID really enjoy that Red Front memorabilia a week or so ago on the Political Forum. Check it out. Talk about rare?

I am very uncomfortable with anyone wearing this material. I can accept reenactors, but wearing a swaz around the block is inappropriate. Just my opinion.

If it happened in any other country, we'd be crying 'anti-Semitism!' but it's happening in the first Hebrew city in broad daylight. And yes, there are customers

"If you buy this Nazi medal, I'll throw in the Hitler postcard at half price."
