These are my 6 x 30 Dienstglas ESO. I believe all leather is original.

- The two small "extra" leather straps, what are they there for?
- Which producer was "eso"?

(I collect various Kriegsmarine and Kustenartillerie items, so a trade is absolutely possible if someone wants these Heer Dienstglas. Send PM)

Optische Werke München. The "extra straps" is a strap to attach the binocs to a tunic button so they don't flop around while wearer moves about quickly.

Thx Stve Z. Yes, the centre leather flap has this purpose, but I was wondering about the two small 3-cm straps? Any idea? Best regards, Loke

Those are straps that would have been connected to a rain cover that went over the eye pieces. The cover would be made of leather or Bakelite. I believe there were two sizes, one for the 6X30 and one for the 7X50. There was a bit of play because the oculars could be moved to a degree.

I've got 4 or 5 German WWII, a couple of Russian and I got these this week. They are strange because the reticle is in the left eye side.
