Both me and him don't know what that "tube thing " is but could it be a magnifier?

I thought I would share my latest catch. A LKpN101 and 6701-2 oxygenmask straight from the son of the vet. The original owner was a bomber pilot flying the He 111 airplane. The mask is in great condition showing honest wear, made by bwz (Auer).
Hope you like it as much as I do.
