You know, Come to think of it, I haven't seen any forgeries on ships smaller than a destroyer. It seems like most of the forgeries are of the capital ships. Does anyone have or has seen a posting of a fake tally that is not a named ship/unit? My guess is that the price and expense is not yet a profitable thing to make these remakes due to the fact that tallies are still relatively affordable.

I would be very grateful to see examples.

Maybe a KM Tallie forgery page would be a good topic to add to the header of the Kriegsmarine forum.

    Thanks,

Oh, I know that there was no Bismark or Tirpitz tally. Was there a Zeppelin carrier tally? And does anyone have one that is original. I have seen a couple offered at repro warehouses.

    Regards,
    Justin G.

Graf Zepplein was never commissioned therefore no tally.

Kreuzer Lutzow was sold by the german government to the USSR in 1939 or 1940 before the ship was armed and finished.
The pocket-battleship Deutschland was renamed as Lützow in this moment, just because Hitler didn´t want that a ship with the name of his fatherland can be sunk.
No tallyribbons with this name were made during the Third Reich.

another question as this is along the lines of Justin's previous one about the Destroyers

were there tallies for the following:

            Kreuzer Amazone
            Arcona
            Berlin
            Hamburg
            Medusa

not sure if these are WW 1 or even if WW 2 ...........

            again many thanks in advance

Google each ship. Study the history of that ship. Then you will know when the ship existed and which tallies apply.

Some ships might have Imperial, RM and KM tallies for example or two of those or one or none. It depend on how long the ship was in service and when it when into service. Or, it might be another ship with the same name. You have to check.

I have provided a reference, you should buy that on ebay. It comes up time to time or see if it is on abebooks.com.

All the listed tallies were made during the RM period (Latin script)--none exist in the KM version.

I have but one. I don't get to share it much as I'm a Luftwaffe collector . I still enjoy it never the less, and enjoyed looking at all of yours.

Very nice, I have never seen a pin like that. Seems like there is a story how you got that.

A very nice duo, with a really nice tally.

                            Hello colleagues

A friend has just picked up 3 tallies in a deal ... he's asking if they're original!

I've read this thread and others on the Forum, studied the pics, and still can't judge with any certainty. I think all 3 may be good :-)

The 'Horst Wessel' and 'Unetrwasserwaffenschule are 150cm long, the 'Gneisenau' is 147cm.

I'd be grateful for any guidance here.

                            with thanks
                            Paul
