I came across this Luftwaffe black cap.
Unlike the caps shown here there is no depot marking at all. The only stamp is the makers details, which are difficult to read.
58 F 42 Mutzen Fabrik, Dresden *, Rheydt*
I am afraid I have no other information about this cap's history.
Unlike most Luftwaffe round cloth badges this one does not appear to have a white ring on the outer, further the eagle appears to be machine sewn not hand sewn.
I was conducting some research into another HG cap today which brought me back to this thread.
I'm now fairly sure that the "BII" etc Heeresbekleidungsamt stamps seen in so many cloth items do NOT refer to a secondary Berlin depot but rather to the Bernau or "Berlin-Bernau" depot. The Berlin depot in Lehrter Straße was moved to Bernau in 1942.
Wonder why so many BII stamped Pz hats ended up with Soviet capture stamps? Read the link. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heeresb...ungsamt_Bernau
