A hands-on is a definite on this one. I always cringe when I see a grey liner with turned edges. Nice clear shots of the front liner and SB would be outstanding.

I'm with you, the grey liner puts me off straight away, so does the fact that it came from Kai.

Good thought, Bill--however, the shade of green looks like police green vs Justiz--if the pink was slightly more red, I would say Feurschutzpolizei pre-42.

Please check for machine stitching on the upper pasteboard and extra holes in the pasteboard where other insignia may have been. Is the pasteboard treated?

                  Thanks so far guys

I will try and take a few extra pics this afternoon of all the areas requested. I have e mailed Kai to ask him to contribute to the thread.Ben i would be willing to post the hat to you and pay postage both ways to give you a hand on inspection and then you could post your observations and let me and the other members know your findings.

More than happy to look at it. I'll send you a PM right now Alan.
Don't worry, I won't be prejudiced by where it came from. I'm merely saying that any cap from Kai needs close scrutiny. Kai, if you're reading this, sorry but that's the truth and you only have yourself to blame.

I would sell it back to Kai Winkler, it must be worth a bit more now after three years, he can surely use it in his new auction business!!!

OK gentlemen, I took a long hard look at this cap today and was pleasantly surprised.
Let's get the basics out the way first. It is defintely not a frankenstein or converted cap in any shape or form . There is not one stitch that could be have been added later, everything has been together as it should since day one. Exterior wise, it's mint, with a trikot upper and
plain wool lower frame. The centre band is the correct type of badge cloth. Piping is a very vivid pink with no signs of fading. Both skull and eagle are real, very tight to the cap and there isn't any signs of other insignia having been there.

So far, so good and here are some photos of details that I really like. I'll get to the interior in a bit.

Zinc Deschler TK. Notice how the chinstrap buckle has rubbed a little spot on the chin of the skull.

Super crisp detailed eagle. Can't remember which type it is now, Hicke, Zimmerman? It has 3 prongs.
