Just curious but could you both give the reasons why this is a fake badge for the benefit of the forum
          Thanks

From the photo in post #76 it is unclear if it has the "half-circle" flaw but the pin is wrong anyway.

              See my own example below:

Out of interest, here are a couple of shots of an original Silver version sold by HW several years ago which I have on file.

Forgot to mention ....that through the years I have been collecting I have seen a different version of the badge , IE: a hollow back type .
Of course never seeing but one example of that type and it being in a book, I am wondering , is that version totally fake? Or a private purchase ? Or is there another explanation ?
Do you follow what I am referring to? That style badge seemed well made and more three dimensional , but feel it should be discussed as I am confidant someone has photos of it that could be added here to the thread to cover all the bases on this badge while the subject is fresh. (Although it seems to me there have been other threads on the 44 wound badge.
Are all the awarded examples accounted for to date or could there be a few more out there in veterans hands yet to be scored,

Where could you buy a quality cased copy these days?
                      Thanks Kyle

I haven't seen one for sale on any dealers websites recently, and It's a long time since I saw a cased one, but without the case the high quality repros sell for around £150 - £200 depending on the grade. The last silver grade I saw sold for £180.

General Schmundt was initially awarded the badge in silver. Guess the gold was handed out to the family after he died.
The silver badge has his name engraved on the reverse.
