Fredy, I encourage you to visit Brent's Antiques -- he has a long list of silver and related pieces that you will find of interest, including the AH Formal Cigar Cutter you're looking for! Cheers, my friend,

The 1st pieces that I purchased was a dinner knife and fork from the Shea hoard.

Very nice Erich. I bought some too then sold them - stupidly - a while back while taking a break from things.

Don't be discouraged, but I hope you have better prices for AH silverware in Germany than we have in the US. Your shopping list, if you could find all the pieces, would cost at least $25,000 here.

Here is a new addition, to go with the coaster.

I have tended to stay away from crystalware as a lot of bogus stuff exists. BUT this was a good price and is a well documented piece. The workmanship is also high quality. The monogram is 'cut' with what, I can only imagine, must have been diamonds - in the curved 'Berghof' pattern. So I'm pretty certain it was from that location or the Eagle's Nest. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think these would have been produced in high numbers for widespread use at larger places like the Braunhaus/FB etc.

The stickers are old auction ones from years back. I might [should] remove them at some point.

The photos don't really do it justice I'm afraid. Natural light would probably be better.

            Chris

This glass is similar in style to the example shown in Dr. Mark Griffith's book, as is the etching, though Griffith's example appears slightly more uniform in comparing the rim to the base. Of course, there may have been other pieces in this style that Griffith didn't show us. So hard to be certain...

Ha, yes, my bad photography I'm afraid. For some reason, it seems to photograph that way at an angle. I have taken another quick shot which, I hope, shows it more accurately.

I like it Chris and it goes well with your coaster.

The market is speaking to me & I'm thinking of selling all my other silverware & converting it into AH formal. If you can't beat 'em join 'em.

The only silver that I collect is the AH formal pattern. With that being said, I wouldn't mind having a few pieces of the informal pattern.

                          Hi Brian,

As I've said in the past, I only collect the AH Informal Pattern, and I am always interested in seeing what people have for sale!

                          Thanks in advance,

                          Br. James

Do you guys really see Formal pieces going up in price by THAT much in the future?

                            If so, why?

I don't know how much the AH formal pieces will go up in the future, but those are the ones people seem to be buying now.

I take exception to that, Brian; AH Informal pieces have always gone up, in my experience, though the selling price for Informal is usually a couple hundred dollars below the AH Formal, depending on the piece.
