Very nice Jim, Thank you for showing that. It is nice to see one close up. I have never seen one in person either. I must say that I like the looks of it better.

Steve, your Schutzmutze is an absolutely beautiful example. One day I will own one! lol

Luke, nice portraits. I also like the non-skull trans pic.

          Hi Bill,

Great portrait. I think those berets they had to wear look silly. Though, if everyone had to wear one, I suppose you wouldn't feel silly.

I agree, some were actually able to pull of the Schutzmutze, others definitely werent! haha I think the thinner guys looked a bit goofy in them to be honest.

                Hi Bill,
I totally agree. The Schiffchen was much more comfortable and professional looking in my opinion. It was also better than what US tankers had to wear. I mean really, a glorified football helmet? Surely we could've done better. Why is the 33rd Panzer Regiment your favorite?

Haha I know you are right man....I think we could have done better on our entire uniform selections for all branches, not just tankers!
                  Well....you asked lol......
I personally enjoy the 9th Pz Division/Pz Reg 33 "Prinz Eugen" because :
Involved in alot of famous battles, interesting movement routes, and plus... a well trained/effective Austrian-made unit who overcame tremendous feats. 9th Pz Div was also awarded the highest number of awarded Medals/decorations (next to 4th Pz Div) out of the Wehrmacht's armoured Divisions. 56 KC's were awarded inside this Division. Fought alongside the LSSAH Pz Dv frquently too. They were involved in alot of key battles/offensives and had a neat composition of Panzers throughout the war! Unfortunately they were also involved in a large amount of tragedy and loss as well. (Mailly le /Overlord counter offensive, etc). the few survivors of the div ended up surrendering in the Ruhr Pocket.
Its fun to pick a Regiment/Division and just try to focus on studying/collecting it. I think you can learn alot more that way.

That's very interesting Bill. Do you have any good regiments to recommend? I love the SS panzermen, but of course they'd be the most expensive. So, which Heer panzer regiments would you recommend? I agree, aside from the US Marine dress uniform, our uniforms were blah.

Bill it is fun to collect specific units, I collect Pionier / Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 16, also 16. Panzer-Division, and of course for a Panzer-Regiment, I have to go with Panzer-Regiment 2.

I hear ya Steve. I think its cool that you collect Panzer-Pionier. It gives you a broader spectrum, especially to collect different Regiments/etc. Very hard to find Pioniere portraits tho! (there was a nice 9th Pz div Pio wehrpass on estand).
I also collect Panzer Regiment 2/16th items. Award docs, photos/etc. Lots of Pz. Reg2 material out there to collect actually.

StuGIII - Like stated above, I think Pz Reg 2 is a good one. Another good one to collect is Panzer Regiment 5 in my opinion. Some interesting info and seems to be a good amount of photos and items to collect.
I agree that anything SS-panzer related is very expensive. Which is partly why I stick to heer Panzer. You get to collect more items!
(I collect Panzer Photos w/ #ed boards or Unit ID and then study/learn about them specifically) Just a way to keep it interesting

Oh thanks Bill, I do not need the competition, this stuff is already way overpriced!
I am looking for Hube pictures for my collection and any PB16!
                          LOL
                          Thanks Steve
