You are right STuGIII, this man has the PAB and wound badge and was just awarded the EKII as it could only be worn on the tunic the day it was awarded, or on a medal bar with dress tunic.
Great photos, don't stop now, keep posting them if you have em!
    Happy Hunting!

          Panzerman 1

Here's a blond haired panzerman. The photo was taken in 1944, according to the date on the reverse.

I bet it's crystal clear in reality!

Great photo Naxos. It's always interesting to see Panzer portraits featuring the Nahkampfspange.

                    Regards,

Hi you're right, the photo is slightly out of focus. Not sure why the photographer took it like that. He'd have only had to make a small adjustment to get it in focus.

                          Hi Kurzer,

Great portrait. Obviously he was a recent transferree from the Luftwaffe, or could there be another explanation?

He appears to be simply a Hermann Goring panzermann wearing the correct black (Luftwaffe) overseas cap and issue black (Luftwaffe) panzer tunic with skulls attached directly to his collar (which was not unusual for this unit). As seen below:

                              Luftwaffe panzer

Ah I knew there had to be an explanation Kurzer. Thanks for clearing that up. I thought he may have transferred into the panzers from the Luftwaffe, because I have an SS Tiger photo and it's commander did that.

Quite comman, there are also photos of Panzermann with IAB, one with Naval I think Destroyer or HS badge and other odd combinations. I totally agree with OSS that He is HG panzermann, That is a real nice photo as is the one posted by OSS! Who knows... They may have been on the same crew with NCO as commander and enlisted man a driver or gunner? To me it would be an interesting area of collecting to find portriats of HG Div. Panzermann, they come up for sale here on the stand on accasion.
                                Happy Hunting!
