Hi Veloce,

There is no breast eagle on this picture so I was wondering if, when you look closely at the picture, you see marks of a post-photo treatment of the image ?

Some pictures were retreated after the war to have the breast eagle removed so the family would still display them.

Fantastic! For me, very interesting picture, because I own soldier´s private fotoalbum, and this Landser was in Lazarett in Wernigerode in 1941-1942. I´m collecting all photos and informations from this place. Gentlemen, if anybody have any other photos from Wernigerode, please let me know.

Leutnant der Infanterie wearing a M44 tunic.

The picture is glued on a photo album page with the soldier's unit. Now when checking the Gliederung of the 263.Infanterie-Division (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...onen/263ID.htm) there is no Regiment 317. The Grenadier-Regiment 317 belonged to the 211.Infanterie-Division.

If someone has a theory about that, I'm interested
