Almost transcribed an entire letter of a Kompanieführer to the widow of a man who was KIA in Belgium, but could use some help with a few last words....

#1: Das ........, an dessen Spitze die 9. Komp. war, hat an dem Tage schwer gelitten
#2: Ich habe ihn …… ……. in …. …… Vynckt, auf einem freien Felde. (about his burrial)

No idea on the baby motif...I don't think so. Looks like a flamingo vs. a stork.
