Thanks Gerdan, would you say that the Larger "S" would be more likely the surname?

I am just trying to ID the name and place, any Idea? I read "Jonas", but I can´t find it as KIA.

Tschachino, looks like. I found a couple of obscure references on Google to a village in Russia by that name.

            http://kontakt-russland.de/plz-russl...36-303011.html

            Could be it.

There is only one Tschachino (Чахино) 53°10' N 36°36' E, some km south of Mzensk. It the one Hank has already found.
Can anyone find out Jonas' unit by the place?

Maybe a silly question but is Jonas definatley the last name?

Could it be the first name or pet name?

                  Chris.

The text says " Obltn. Jonas..". Normally it should be his family name. But the name " Jonas " is

also a first ´German name. If he calls the Oberleutnant with his first name so it could also be his first

name: "Jonas". It is depending on his relation to him.

I can't even begin to make these two out. It is making my head hurt. Hopefully someone will be able to read them.

Thanks for looking. Your help is greatly appreciated.

                                left: "Dr. Schröder."
                                right: Something like „Saupe”
