Would love to get an ID on this beast, as well as some info about what's written on the back in pencil.

Can anyone make out the name on the side?

Hi Doug,

In photo 514, the name on the side of the tank is Wespe or Wasp in English, if I'm not mistaken. The Wespe was a self propelled gun like the StuG. I can't read the back of the photo.

this last one is a nashorn, a panzerjager based on a mix of Pz III and IV hull,
with a 88 mm Pak 43 L/71.

I believe this is a Pz III. Can someone identify this tanks unit? The number on the hull is 812.

No. It's a Hornisse, or Nashorn.

This is a Wespe. Quite a big difference......

Both the Wespe and Nashorn were German produced vehicles.

It's a Panzer IV (ausf.B or C) not a Panzer III.

unless im missing something i think it's a panzer 4...note the short 75mm different road wheels and vents on the side of the hull there...
