I am happy to have you here, Richard... How many unit markings of non-fighting units be recorded in the future... I am not so sure... So many are known only to a very small group and could be lost forever...

Here is something I was looking for (maybe you had already known, Richard)...

The larger marking is for Nachtjagdgeschwader (Schmitz/Thies Band 2, S.310) but what is the upper smaller one?

Then only recently I found an album on ebay, and it's from II./Luftnachrichten-Regiment 203, which was under Jagddivision 3.

I digitized it crudely (color depends on Schmitz/Thies, the surrounding green is from the picture and I assumed Stab color), I hope I am not doing this too badly.

Akira, thanks for the trouble you go through to educate us. All the best.

I happen to have a small group of pictures from a Nachrichten unit, which shows a Truppenkennzeichen simlar to one of the markings shown by Richard...

            Digitized it:

This is a Heeres Nachrichten unit (tactical marking etc.)

One of the photos show a truck with IY-202948. IY is the license number prefix for Düsseldorf.

And one of the photos has the photoshop (no, not the software, atelier) marking Foto Söhn. Googling with the name immediately shows a photoshop still in good running order in Düsseldorf.

So we can rather safely assume that this unit is from Düsseldorf!

Ok, so now we look in Tessin Band 16... The photos were taken just before the operation Barbarossa (June 1941). Oops, I can't find a match for a Nachrichten-einheit for the date...

So I had to stop... Can anyone (probably from Düsseldorf) help? (it would help Richard too) The character has something to do the city?

earlier this year a friend asked me to id a rather crude emblem found on a kettenkrad he had salvaged in norway. i wasnt able to help but recently i stumbled over this pic on ebay. the seller was the notorious mr. bethge and as you would expect, it came with a fantasy caption. in this case "das reich". note the wh-licence plate...

                    I am "someone"!

Ach so, 'S' stands for 'Schroth'! Then I./Flak-Regiment 26 must have been under his command at one time...

Very interesting, Werner! The marking is mirrored on the photo and on the vehicle.

The following picture would be sold as "Das Reich" by Herr Bethge!

                      It is actually Luftnachrichten-Abteilung 31 / I.Fliegerkorps (don't know which is which).

Is it possible to get some info out of the two photos added ? Unit perhaps ?
It seems to be luftwaffe related. On second photo the emblem is only partially vicible.
                        thanks

                            akira,
i noticed the reversed marking. but it gets even weirder. on the same kettenkrad this marking can be found mirror-inverted as well. ???
a riddle or just a drunken painter?

I'll post a few more of my press photos which have symbols on them that I am not sure what the symbol means. Here is a symbol of a duck on the door of a vehicle. I believe it is for a Propoganda Kompanie but am not certain of it.

Here is another one on the door which I believe is another Propoganda Kopmanie symbol. This one has a squirrel on the door.
