    Agreed!

I have wrote 3 letters to him and he is very kind and answering questions. I have got 2 autographs from him, one photo from World War 2 and one showing him today with his 1957 KC.
Soon I will get a new answer from him.

Thanks for the information. I have added Friedrich Adrario (Heer) to the list.

Just on a side note for our vistors. After the war Friedrich Adrario joined the fledgling Bundes Gendarmerie (Federal Police) in 1954 as a Captain in his native Austria which was the precursor to the Austrian Heer.

He joined the new Austrian Heer two years later in 1956 and retired as a Major General in 1983.

Just wondering, are any of them reluctant to sign autographs when they know they can capitalize on thier name and art prints, say from the likes of Nick Trudgian, or Bailey? I know Gunther Rall has signed alot of prints, and paper, prior to the pieces printing...and I'm sure he earns a bit from it. My question is are some of these vets reluctant becuase they know it could possibly have an impact on this source of income? I'm sure some of the lesser known KC winners, aces, etc. aren't involved in these deals so I would imagine they are more recpetive to signing autographs for genuine fans.

                    Hi,

This is certainly true for some KC winners.
I received the respond of KC winners of almost unknown and who were amazed to receive a letter.
Others respond only if we send a picture of them.

                    Regards

                    Phil.

Two Luftwaffe KC winners I know have told me that after having spent one afternoon signing piles of Robert Taylor prints for instance the payment is one print. They don't care about money.

Geesh. Not a very good deal. I imagined that most of the bigger name guys were asking for something in the neighborhood of $5 per print. Sign 100, and there's $500. I guess that's not the case. Taylor, Trudgian, Young, Baily and the rest are really cleaning up then. If these guys weren't wounded during the war or subsequently served in the bunds, then I guess there's no military subsidised retirement check. If they were paid, I would think signing the prints would be a nice way for them to supplement thier income.
