1. There are 10 Luft. pilots winning the diamond. I believe only Gollob, Lent, Marseille. Nowotny and Rudel got the "physical"goblet. They all got the 835 type except Nowotny's one.
2. The price range should start from $100,000 up to "wish-price" ( eg, Rudel's one)
3. Goblet price for Sword winner ( top end) should be around $60,000.
I think Mike has done a great job on his pricing update.
Goblets have been going up over the past few years. I can recall, not too many years ago, when the price of an average Alpaca goblet seemed to have plateaued at about the $3K USD mark - and at that price the goblets just sat around. Too bad those days are gone. I think collectors have finally come to appreciate these non portable awards for what they represent, their scarcity and beauty.

Why do you think rising prices are good for the collector? They are good for the seller, not the buyer.

I never stated I liked rising prices (but in some sense I do as we all should). I did state that collectors have finally come to appreciate these pieces which I believe were underapprciated for quite some time. Prices are coming more in line with the rarity/desirability of these pieces compared with other items of similar rarity.
ALL collectors (or their family members) will be sellers one day and I am sure at that time we/they will want to get top dollar for their items, who whould not. While some items are falsely driven up in price we as collectors should hope that items continue to increase in value, not only does it indicate a healthy market but it is good for all involved. Who wants to collect something that goes DOWN in value or does not even stay abreast with inflation.
This is the only collectible hobby I have been involved in where alot of the collectors think that items should stay cheap and that when a collector sells something he should give a break to another collector. I recall one person writing my friend that he should sell all of his items at the price he originally bought them at because that is the "collector thing" to do. REALLY? What other item/collectible would that apply to?
Brian, I am not disagreeing with you on the rare ones, my comment was more focussed on the common ones.
Btw here is a 50+ kills one for sale for a looooong time at Winklers Shop. Its not selling. There will be less and less people who shell out 4k-10k+ on a Honor Goblet over the years (less collecters) so its logical that prices will go down in my opinion.
