Good. I want to be the last collector with a room full of $10 cups.

I am not saying its a bad thing ! Hoping for some lower prices so I can finally get some goblets !

There are 2 or 3 RK Goblets for sale at dealer sites already sitting there for some time. Chris gave a link to one of them. The Oekenpöhler goblet didn't get sold that easy, if sold at all. The price was very low for a RK Goblet. Maybe the wartime repair was a problem. So wonder how the prices are now. Or should other factors be taken into account more?

@Brian, what about 835 versus Alpaka? I look more at the name than the silver content. But of course know there is a price difference between the two.

Hi Thomas. Certainly the name! For me the thing about the 835 versus the Alpaka is mostly timing. When you do a little research on the 835 guys you more often than not find them early in battles the later fliers missed like Battle of Britain. The other thing about Alpaka is of course condition. I have a great Alpaka cup to a pilot in beautiful condition, DKiG. But I wouldn't pass on an Alpaka cup to a distinguished ace.

The link for the cup above is a really nice cup but in my opinion overpriced by 1500=2000 euros.

Great deal at the last Hermann Historica auction: Eichenlaubträger Oberst Freiherr von Beust's Ehrenpokal for 6400 € (auction fee included).
            Congrats to the buyer

Prices seems to be on the trend down ! Good for us collectors, bad for dealers !

I am not seeing that price decline. Many of the gobbers have been ROAG and Observer cups. You get into the NJG and Ace Cups, etc., the demand is still very high. At least I can tell you my recent NJG cup was no "bargain basement price".

It's also linked to the interest you have in the goblet. I have recently above the marked price for a 835 Ehrenpokal just because I was owning the pilot's Fliegerbluse and couldn't let it go. Same thing for a guy who has recently bought from a dealer in the States a really overpriced goblet (40% above von Beust's Ehrenpokal selling price ) for an unknown to the public KC holder (not Eichenlaubträger) but who was his wife's grandfather.

I have seen top ace pokals sitting alround, I have eichenlaub goblets sitting alround. They are not moving at dealer prices.. Which is a good thing ! Dont get me wrong!

What would a Lent or Schnauffer goblet go for? 6,000 euros... Don't think so... Some guys with RK's I am so sorry to say just not all that interesting. Add some kills. Add some combat. Add some Afrika. Add some Battle of Britain. Add some night combat. But again sorry to be blunt you sit on your ass and sieg heil and "command" and get an RK and a Goblet that doesn't make the goblet "valuable". Not saying ANY mentioned above fit this narrative but take it in the context of "value".

I think Brian is spot on.....each cup has to be evaluated on its own. The name and story behind the cup factor greatly in the pricing of the goblet. IMO these are a greater factor than if the cup is Alpaca or 835.

For example, a western front RKT fighter pilot would be much more valuable than a Oakleaves winner bomber pilot on the Eastern front.

I will delete the 2nd para as it relates again to the history/story of why he gets the goblet .

In all these scenarios it comes down to the person buying. It's only worth what one wants to pay and not everyone sees the desirability through the same eyes. Someone maybe be more bomber inclined, another may be more fighter pilot inclined. Trying to translate that into prices is a unless exercise.
