so we can distinguish at least 4 types :
tan and green wtih sawdust (like the dozen presented)
tan and green without sawdust (like ROB and mine )
green with hand painted tan spots ( like shaun)
dark green with hand painted apple green spots ( like Phil , Gustav,...)
but not sure if they are all from fjr6

It's tricky... the very need to bother to name and ID the company may be as a direct result of them being camo'd the classic sawdust way, so they can be found by their owners. So these others, that may actually be FJR6 don't have that helpful tip. We have to be careful to avoid Willi's pet peeve of collectors creating neat boxes to put things into too
...at least we know that each battalion had some helmets camo'd the classic sawdust way.
And just a few more Komps to find...

Arnad, you are correct. We have done that on earlier FJR6 threads. Corrupting the data to the point where it is invalid.
I certainly think we are going down the wrong road if we start adding other camo types. What most refer to as "FJR6 camos" are the ones with saw dust. We have seen group photos of dozens laid on the ground with other gear. We have numerous examples with provenance to that unit.
The focus here is to identify the companies which wore the saw dust examples. Can any of the other camo types be tied to FJR6?
The 3rd and 5th FJDs fought in Normandy and had plenty of camos as well. So did FJR2 and FJR7 at Brest. That is a total of 8 regiments. We know the very rough brown and green camos were picked up in Normandy. Must have seen 6 or 7 of these. We know the two-color light and dark green spray camos with the camoed heavy bailing wire came from Normandy. Have seen a number of these. None of them have been attributed to FJR6.
When did FJR6 members paint the saw dust camos? When the entire unit arrived in France in April of 1944, or before they left Germany? I sincerely doubt FJs moved between units (as in FJR6) between April and June 6th.
If we want to document this we need to not loose our focus.Willi

Here is a lengthy thread we started 13 years ago. Perhaps we can find some more companies to add to the list. There is also some great information from Mark Bando, and others.
