Hi jeff
how were the regulation for Us troopps regarding the wear of vietnamese berets, how comes that a unit like the 25th chose to adopt a black beret, was it because ARVN infantry had black berets ?, were differnt colors worn inside a division?
what about when whole units come back states sides in 71 and 72, what was to be done with the ARVN color berets, were there any regulations of disposal?
Cheers
Alex

It does the hobby no favours at all.

Alex, I am afraid I cannot help you with your questions. Except for the fact that once GI's returned stateside, very few of the items that they could wear in country were allowed to be worn in the CONUS! Officially awarded decorations were allowed on the dress uniform and not much more. I remember when I was in the service in the early 70's many vets were forced to remove sewn on decorations on their fatiques. It seemed that it was up to the discretion of the unit Co's at times.
Anyway I dug out a few more berets this time for Patrick, as I know he is looking for a Ranger beret! JeffAttached Files"Great hunter yes! great fisherman yes! fine figure of a man yes! that is all you need to know" Jeremiah Johnson.
